Check out the Whale Song Project at http://whale.fm/ .

You can help marine researchers understand what whales are saying.
Listen to the large sound and find the small one that matches it best.

I tried a couple last night and I might go back
and register and try a few more tomorrow night.

Don't know if th eposter is for real, but the project
likely is.

Any project that can somehow include marine mammals
in their scope of work is far more likely to recieve
funding than useful projects.

It is for real, though I am not associated with the project.
I figured that acoustical physicists and those familiar
with digital signal processing might be interested in
the analysis of whale sounds. My background is in geophysics.

I just tried http://whale.fm/ and got through with no
problems, so I suggest you try again. I am not
associated with the site so if you continue to
have problems I suggest you e-mail ***@whale.fm .
Good luck.
