Forming a sci.physics.acoustics news group
(too old to reply)

Dear All:

As you recall we extensively discussed forming an physics-acoustics news
group within the "Big 8" News Net environment that enjoys wider coverage.
For some time since, I have awaited comments on the decision made late last
fall to not make it moderated at the outset; we would operate it and hope
for the best, enjoying a wider audience while hopefully not experiencing any
severe spa-.

The next step is to announce a second Request For Discussion (RFD) in
the "news groups proposals" (n.g.p.) news group, and where we (you) must
present your support. (I don't think it's a voting process as much as it is
an expression-of-viable-interest situation). The stewards of the news net
organization will also weigh in on their judgments, and will respond
positively to your remarks.

But it's not time yet... I have to polish up the wording of the RFD to
suit the stewards (Marty and Kathy) so that they may post it in their name
as a recognized proposition. That should occur within a week hopefully. Then
there is a finite time for acceptable discussion in n.g.p. on the matter of
forming "sci.physics.acoustics" news group where the window is open for your
inputs. After some days of discussion, said discussion is shut down, and
there is an Up or Down vote by them whether or not to form that news group.

I will keep you all advised here.

I have prepared the RFD for posting in

news.announce.newsgroups

and it has been posted this evening.

Please go to

news.groups.proposals

and post messages of support for the formation of

sci.physics.acoustics

Thanks,

Ange
